Fun things to do online

The year of community

It is always extraordinary to see how people adapt in times of great change. Particularly moving are the ways people promote community. From neighbours coming together to buy groceries for the elderly, to sponsored marathons on balconies, and rounds of applause echoing through the world’s cities.

We all have a role to play these days. Our one is to provide opportunities to meet new people and fun things to do online while we’re all stuck in our own zones. Even if it’s just to prepare for your reintroduction into the world of strangers, have a little hop out of your comfort zone this week and try something new.

Find out what’s happening here and join what takes your fancy – you are welcome!

Let's discuss TED Talks

TED talks are an efficient and engaging way to learn something on a lunch break, but you expand the potential of any good idea when you can soundboard it off others. That’s why we’ll be meeting to watch a couple of TED Talks together, interspersed with time to share our reactions and debate ideas.

Among Us

Somehow we have salvaged friendship from the previous three instalments of murder, sabotage, and betrayal. Join us for round four!

It’s a little like the party game ‘Mafia’ combined with a little more hand-eye coordination and the threat of the endless vacuum of space.

We keep in the loop via voice chat so we can discuss our suspicions and defend our ‘integrity’ to the end. Each game takes only a few minutes, and you’re welcome to join just for a bit and see what it’s all about.

Pub quiz: The Office

Six weeks into quarantine leave most of our living rooms indistinguishable from the pub. But if you’d like to add the finishing touch, let me suggest beaming in to our pub quiz. We’re teaming up together in a bid to claim victory in a live-streamed US Office themed quiz. Add your knowledge to the already considerable bank and meet some new faces.

Mario Kart Online

After weeks of quarantine, it’s only a matter of time before we all start throwing bananas at each other. Exorcise these strange urges in a virtual context and delay the inevitable. You can download Mario Kart free and join our game by following the link below. We’ll set up a discord call to share the thrills and spills from our various quarantine pods.

Creative Writing

The tangles of your own experience are what make you unique. Come and share them with the group as we craft something together. We’ll take it in turns to add a small section to the piece and develop it one by one. No need to consider yourself a writer – just be prepared to listen and imagine.
