Free Yoga Class

Who knew humans could look like that? If you want to find out how and are also frugal, stingy, and discerning then this bi-weekly yoga session is perfect for you. It’s hosted by Puck, an experienced yoga and martial arts instructor. He works on a donation basis for the sessions but you are more than welcome to just come and try it out.

It lasts for 1 hour, and consists of a short meditation, followed by bends twists, and inversions. Beginners and experienced warmly welcome.

City Beach Festival @ Dok

If we can’t come to the beach, the beach will just have to come to us. Fortunately, Dok Amsterdam have taken matters into its own hands, and brings you all the best parts of a beach in August (plus some of the inevitable downsides of sand finding its way into every crevice for the next month). Complete with hammocks, inflatable jellyfish (?) and all you could hope to eat and drink, Dok will ease you through a hot summer weekend at the ‘seaside’.

IJ Hallen Flea Market

IJ Hallen is back! The largest flea market in Europe returns in force with its endless range of fashion, homeware, fun but miscellaneous nicknacks, and a side-serving of social distancing rules. It’s always best in the morning, which keeps things emptier and allows time for a nice drink by the water at Noorderlicht.

Jazz at the Plantage

Struggling with human contact? Ease yourself back in with the eminently simpler company of plants. No need to even speak to anyone, just find a nice spot in the shade and enjoy some quality you time as beautiful jazz music wafts over you.

You can choose between performances at Hermitage on Saturdays, or at Hortus Botanicus on Sundays (highly recommended). You need to buy tickets for the Saturday, but just paying for entry to Hortus suffices for the Sunday, and gives you the option for a leafy stroll through the gardens.

Free Outdoor Bootcamp

Introducing Smug Sundays – where you spend one hour with a pounding heart and sweaty forehead, and get to walk around for the rest of the day with annoying grin on your face for all those who stayed in bed eating dusty pringles.

Puck’s Sunday outdoor bootcamp in Flevopark has you covered on all bases: a short sharp shock for an hour, in a relaxed non-macho atmosphere.

Mindfulness, Truth & Nature of Mind

If you haven’t yet sampled the peace that meditation can bring to your life, Mindiverse’s bi-weekly session offers an opportunity to learn and begin to incorporate it into your day. It’s particularly of interest to those who want to go deeper and understand how mindfulness is situated within philosophy and neuroscience.

All welcome.
